They say half the battle is getting to the gym, however, as a working mom with two little ones, half the battle is getting to the car to get to the gym 😂. Before kids I was pretty regimented with my fitness routine. Worked out 4-5 days a week, and meal prepped healthy meals on Mondays for the whole week. After the birth of my second child, soon my workouts consisted of carrying a 14 lb. baby, chasing my toddler around, and being lucky to find the time to eat 3 meals a day. When life got to this point I knew I had to make changes because my wellness has always been an important factor in keeping my mind, body, and soul balanced. Also, I just found staying active elevated my energy and mood, which successively helps me be a better mother to my children. Scratch that, coffee does that 🤣 haha!
I became internal this week. I was actually feeling uninspired and unmotivated to write, but after a few days I decided to be proactive instead and take action for my family. And in liu of the senseless, heartbreaking, tragic Las Vegas massacre, I decided to dedicate this post to the first responders and good samaritans that helped save some lives during that terrible event. As sad as it is to have this mindset, this is the reality and current world that I am tasked to raise my children in. But, I would rather be prepared for something that never happens, than to be unprepared if it ever does.
When I first became a mom there was one stage that I dreaded the most. The “picky eater” stage. The thought of going to battle with a mini food terrorist turned up the mom anxiety to the max. It was difficult enough having to make a home cooked meal after a long day at work, and adding a picky eater to that was challenging to say the least. I’m also sensitive when it comes to being of service to someone. I always want to do a good job, especially when it comes to cooking for my family. I found myself getting a little upset 😑 when my toddler refused the wonderfully presented, 4 course meal I made with all 5 food groups 🤣. I needed to set more realistic expectations I know haha.
A Sunday (glimpse) in the life of this mother of two.
It always starts with a huge cup of coffee, moves on to getting my kids ready for the day, then some fun mixed in with errands (to help get the rest of the week going), some meal prepping, coffee #2 haha, and ending with my kids’ bedtime routine and relaxing on the couch with my love 💕.
I can’t take all the credit though and am happy to say that my fiancé Mike is a very involved father to our kids, and partner in managing our home. We actually balance each other out well when it comes to responsibilities of the home. I’ll cook, he’ll clean. He’ll throw in the load of laundry, I’ll fold it all. We’ll take turns bathing the kids and putting them to bed. We’re like a well oiled machine!
Part of that success is the love and respect we have for each other (insert cheesy emoticon) and the other part is having the tools/technology to succeed haha. This leads me to the holy grail of apps for Couples, The Couple App (name doing its justice).
Now that summer is coming to a close, and before I switch out my wardrobe, I’d like to take a moment to commemorate 21, Forever 21 work outfits I wore this past summer. 🙂🙃
Before I worked at my current company, I used to work at a digital advertising agency for 8 years. It was a very relaxed environment with an even more laid back dress code policy. Sometimes I used to roll into work in my Minnie Mouse pajama sweater 😂 after a long night (before kids, if you know what I mean 😉). I never had to have 2 different wardrobes for work and outside of work, or think about my outfit violating any kind of dress code, until now.
When I found out I was having a girl I was so excited about the thought of making her clothes. This is the first piece (of many to come) that I made for Harlow. UGH! Just look how cute she is! Almost 5 months old. She’s so curious about the world lately. She’s already rolling around trying to crawl. She loves her brother so much, it’s so heartwarming to see. You have to check out my Instagram Stories with them two!
Maybe it’s our innate nurturing role, or the calming energy we bring to our family, but to me…
H O M E is definitely where mom is.
My home has always been my sanctuary. My place of retreat. Away from the outside world and all its chaos. And it all started with my mom and the home she created for my siblings and I as a child.
Now that I’ve become a mother myself, I’ve embraced this responsibility and task for my own family. Every detail I’ve put into each room in my home, I’m quite proud of.
So, here’s a look into my home!
Here is a custom made pattern and detailed instructions for DIY soft soled baby shoes. For those 10 little piggy toes to be worn to the market and all the way home! (I just had to 🤣)
I custom made this pattern to include everything I wanted in a soft soled baby shoe, which was comfort with a modern design. A lot of the patterns I saw online didn’t meet both of those needs, so custom was the way to go. This design is not only seamless (for comfort), the cuts are more modern and the construct is easier than some seamless ones I demo’d online.
Check it out!
Managing a household is like managing a business, and if you’re anything like me, then you need to always feel a sense of organization and order with everything you do. Otherwise, it feels like you’re doing everything and nothing at the same time.
I’m definitely a sucker for romance and I always dreamed my Prince Charming would ride in a white horse and sweep me off my feet, but instead…he rode in driving a white Dodge Charger 🤣. Continue reading “Watch out for the quiet ones…👀”
