No person, place, or thing will EVER make you happy. Remember that. Happiness is a positive attitude and mindset no matter what the circumstance. Even in the face of life’s ups and downs, it is maintaining emotional positivity. Its getting through the darkness knowing there will be light at the end of the tunnel. It’s being grateful for what you have instead of wishing for what you don’t have.
This family vacation was one for the books! So many wonderful memories captured, thanks to my love Mike 💓. Our stay was last minute, booked 2 weeks prior. I had requested time off from work knowing I wanted to go somewhere with the family, I just didn’t know where. I was long overdue to get away, and what a perfect getaway it was.
This year marked my 4th official Mother’s Day, but my 1st Mother’s Day I felt as confident as the mother that I have evolved into today. I say it proud. I feel it proud. I am proud. Nobody can tell me I cannot do something when I have birthed these two lives, which have both almost taken mine. But I am here living and breathing fire.
At the start of this year I was granted the opportunity with my current company to continue my position as a Senior Financial Analyst, with the added flexibility to work from home around my own hours. As equally as I express my appreciation of being given this gift, I also have to celebrate myself 🙌🏻. In my 10 year career as a financial analyst I have worked aggressively and tirelessly to get to where I am, and I am rather proud of my accomplishments. I have proven my value through my unwavering work ethic, quality of my work, and one of a kind skill set. This does not go undeserving or one sidedly as a favor upon me, but truly, as a mutually beneficial arrangement between my employer and I. What I’m most grateful for is not only do I get to continue to do what I love, but also, my kids get more of me. Their childhood has been changed forever, which will shape the rest of their lives and who they become as adults, and to me, that is priceless. I will be forever indebted, and will continue to show my gratitude through my merits and continued relationships with those I work with ✨.
I know we’re week three into the new year, and this post may seem a little tardy haha, but I’ve been adjusting to a new routine and also, mom life 🤷🏼♀️. I wanted to reflect on the wonderful year I had in 2017. In the past I’ve always been so quick to close the door on another year, and start fresh in the new year, but I wanted to show my gratitude to 2017. It was such an accomplishing year for me. There were so many blessings. I birthed a baby, birthed a blog, blossomed in my role as a mother (of now two), and fulfilled one of my career long dreams.
Currently packing away all the holiday decor, and last minute decide to spruce up my home decor a bit because… new year, new me right haha 💁🏼♀️! Part of my mini home decor makeover was receiving our stylish, cushioned play mat from Comfort Design Mats. What a great product this is!
When I received this mat and laid it out to give it a try, I was impressed. It was nicely packaged, there were no harsh chemical smells out of the box, and no kinks or wrinkles. It flattened out nice and quickly and the product itself came as pictured as it was on their website. Continue reading “Comfort Design Mats ☁️”→
As working parents with little ones it’s certainly challenging to “date your spouse”. However, we’re pretty fortunate to have our kids on a really good routine that they’re usually in bed by 8pm. This leaves the rest of the night to ourselves 🙌🏻. With that precious time we always try and make an effort to reconnect and catch up with each other, and essentially, have a date night in at home 🙂.
Over Thanksgiving weekend I rounded up the cavalry for a casual family photoshoot. I’ve been meaning to share this on the blog, but have been super busy with work as it’s my busy season with my company’s budget 😱. Also, without realizing, I took on some side contract work because I have a problem with saying no 😑. Sometimes I don’t know what I get myself into haha! You feel me?! I’ve also been feeling guilty for neglecting my blog, but prioritizing my time as a working mom of two little ones is not easy. Sleep always wins 🤷🏼♀️. I promise (you and myself) that I’ll get back on it in the next coming weeks! I’ve already got some stuff brewing!
This past weekend Mike planned the most amazing birthday surprise for me. I’ve known for weeks that we were going somewhere, but it’s my busy season at work and I honestly haven’t had any time to think about it, let alone, have any kind of excitement towards it. So that entire day was the first time I actually felt the anticipation, eagerness, and joy during the build up. I didn’t know where we were going up until we got there and I saw “The Lights” sign and then my excitement hit its peak. I was overjoyed. This was something that was on my bucket list.
We arrived pretty early to enjoy the festival fun. As you can see below, we started off with double fists of beer, moved along to fill our bellies with food truck treats, and then proceeded to do what everyone else seemed to be doing… have a mini desert landscape photoshoot haha 😂 ! What was not pictured here was Mike trucking along (with his two hands) 2 heavy camping chairs, umbrella and stand, our bag of snacks, and blanket from the car to the hour long line we waited in, and to our spot further inside the festival. In hindsight, a wagon would’ve been nice. I will also mention, I was told to wear a sweater in what felt like 85 degrees. I make a point to say this as a tip to the next man that is thinking about planning a surprise for their significant other because we all know woman are just more organized and prepared 😉.
In our family, Sundays are for Papa’s Motorhome. Mike’s grandpa (aka Papa) purchased his Motorhome in 1997, and since then it has been filled with many family gatherings and memories. It’s kind of crazy to see the multiple generations of grandchildren (and now great grandchildren) that have spent their childhood there. Every Sunday Mike’s grandparents take it to the Bay and we will either spend the day there, or make an effort to at least stop by when we’re out and about. Mike loved it as a kid, our son looks forward to it every weekend, and I’m sure our daughter will grow to enjoy it.
